The only thing standing between you and your goals is the bullshit you keep telling yourself.
Is this true for you?
Do you feed yourself negative thoughts that are invading your business? I do and I’ve built a business helping people create a positive mindset for business success.
Those niggling little thoughts that whizz around in your head can be so destructive, they can even end up shouting and we all know that when you’ve constantly got someone (even if that someone is yourself) telling you “You can’t do it, it won’t work, you’re not smart enough, you’re not good enough….” whatever rubbish it is, achieving that goal can become harder.
So today I wanted to share a few tips to help you create a super positive success mindset about achieving your business goals.
Consciously change your story
We’re all telling stories all of the time about ourselves, about our life and about our business. Most people are on what I call a default setting and just have some random story going on that’s been written over the years by thousands of different people, from news readers, parents, friends, bosses, teacher, random people we overhear in a coffee shop or on TV…
What I want to encourage you to do is start your own deliberate success story. Tell that story to yourself every day and make sure when you’re talking to others you build on that success story.
Tell the story of someone who achieves their goals, gets things done. Tell a story of someone who CAN!
Need a reminder of all the things you’ve already achieved.
One of the best habits I’ve ever taken up is my achievements journalling (success journal). I have a diary at the side of my bed that’s dedicated to my business achievements. Every day I write down some of the things I’ve achieved that day in my business. I also write down the things I’ve attracted such as a new client, affiliate commission, course sales…
This is a powerful reminder that I’m achieving things in my business and it’s a great story builder.
Another thing I recommend you do is to make a list of all your achievements so far in your business.
Here are just a few of mine to give you an idea.
- Registered and launched the business
- Set up a website/blog (it’s changed from a website I had professionally built to a blog I created myself over the years. Yes I realize that sounds a bit backward but it’s what worked for me)
- Started a Facebook page/group, Twitter, Pinterest…
- Got my first client, second…
- Created my first course, second…. (See them here)
- Wrote my first book, second…. (See them here)
The list goes on, but I’m sure you get the idea.
At one stage my achievement entries were simply things like. I wrote a comment on Facebook. The more you use your journal and focus on your achievements, the more you’ll have to add. It creates success/achievements momentum.
Spot it and Swap it
If you do notice any negative mind chatter creeping in, simply SPOT IT and SWAP IT for something better feeling. I say better feeling and this is important. If you’ve been around for a while then you’ll know I’m a qualified law of attraction practitioner (I teach people how to use the law of attraction to attract the things they want). If you’re new to this idea let me explain quickly. The law of attraction gives you what you are a vibrational match for. I won’t go into this in detail here other than to say you can monitor your vibrations by the way you feel. Think positive emotions and negative emotions. Positive emotions help you attract positive things and negative emotions draw to you things you won’t want so much. So going back to the spot it and swap it idea, if you have a negative thought it will make you feel negative, so you want to swap it for something that feels more positive for you.
Here’s an example:
I don’t know how to do this, I’m no good at it (Negative)
Okay, so RIGHT NOW I don’t know how to do this. What can I do to learn how to do it?” or “Is there someone I can outsource this to who knows what they are doing?”
The situation is exactly the same, nothing in the immediate moment changed other than your thoughts. They’ve changed from negative to positive.
Now I’m not one of those people who says “Hey if you think positive, everything you want will just miraculously show up for you” but what I’ve come to understand is that the power of thought is pretty impressive.
When your thoughts are supporting you, working on your goals feels a whole lot easier. Your conscious mind supports you, you are deliberately training your subconscious mind to support you and you’re asking the universe to support you. It sure beats that negative feeling in my book.

If you want to learn more about the law of attraction I recommend you start with this post – How the law of attraction works
Totally true, we can be our own biggest enemies if we are not careful. Good post!
We most certainly can Paola. But just being aware of this is powerful. Once you are aware of how destructive it can be, we can change it.
great post as always ! Yes I am my biggest enemy.I need to change my mindset and write down my achievements.
It’s a great start Verushka, also try writing down a few affirmations and repeating them throughout the day.
I’m creating my first vision board today!
Oh well done Sarah, do come back and let us know how that goes.
Great points, Love them. Learn to tell a different story. Finding my own voice is where my passion has been taking me and i am loving it.
The other point, spot it and swap it. That is so true. The things we say can be so devastating to how we face the world.
Thank you for you thoughts.
Excellent post Wendy. Some great reminders here that I sometimes forget.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts Sandy. Spot it and Swap it has been massive for me.
I think we all forget from time to time Amanda.
