“I don’t like myself” It’s almost hard to imagine myself saying that now but I did. In fact, my exact words as I looked in the mirror were “I don’t like you and I don’t know who you are!”
I get messages from people on a regular basis saying things like “I don’t like myself!” and it breaks my heart as well as makes my heart sing with joy.
I’ve been there and I know how these people feel. Of course, we all have different life experiences but that feeling you get when you actually acknowledge you don’t actually like yourself is horrific. I wish nobody ever felt this way but they do.
My heart sings though because by using the law of attraction in my own life, I have come to love myself and my life.
I love the person I am, I go to bed each night pleased with how I live my life.
I just want to add that my life is not perfect. I don’t have a luxury, dream-like existence. It’s a normal life, with a business to run, housework to do, meals to cook, the odd argument with my teenage son, a dog that has more toys than is ever necessary…
I have however learned to love who I am and over the past few years, I’ve created a life I love. I’ve learned to focus on the positive things about me and about my life and through doing that I have changed my life.
For me, waking up in the morning and going to sleep at night feeling happy with who I am, is the greatest gift I have been given through taking my own law of attraction journey.
So yes, if you are currently thinking “I don’t like myself” then YES the law of attraction can help you change that.

The law of attraction gives us what we focus on, wanted or not.
The law of attraction responds to our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, the things we say and the things we do.

5 things that helped me change how I feel about myself and my life
I’m going to share the 5 things that have made the biggest difference in my life with you as I know through my own experiences and through working with people all over the world, that these 5 things when done regularly and consistently will make a huge difference in your life.
1. Get clear about the sort of person you want to be and how you want to live your life
For me, this was as simple as…
I want to be a good mum, I want to like myself, I want to feel positive about myself and my life, I want to be a positive role model for my son, I want to go to bed feeling happy with who I am and the way I live my life.
I wasn’t happy and I really wanted to feel happy.
So at this stage we’re not looking at those things like “I want to be rich, I want to be famous, I want to live in a big house…
That can come later.
For now, it’s all about you.
Write these things down and keep reviewing them.
2. Use affirmations
Affirmations played an enormous part in helping me to feel more positive about myself and my life. Affirmations help you fill your mind with positive statements and ideas. I read a lot of work by Louise Hay, who is, in my opinion, the queen of affirmations. I recommend you do the same. You can start by reading through her daily affirmations. Pick out some that resonate with you, write them down, fill your mind with them.
So I’m not talking about writing a few affirmations down in the morning and then forgetting about them. Write them down and carry them with you, have them beside your bed, where you work, on post-it notes in the bathroom. Fill your mind with them as much as you possibly can.
Whenever you catch a negative thought or say something negative, feel negative, start saying your affirmations.
One of my favourites that I certainly used a lot in the early days and I still use now is…
“All is well in my world”
For me this covers everything, I don’t need to say I’m healthy, I’m loved, I’m happy, my business is going well… I can just say “All is well in my world” and relax.
Another affirmation that has been really powerful for me is…
“I am loved”
I knew that whatever I felt about myself, there were people who loved me. Constantly reminding myself of this really helped me.
3. Be grateful for everything
I used to tell people to be grateful for everything positive in their life, but honestly, I’ve learned that we actually can be grateful for everything (or at least most things).
So let’s start with being grateful for everything positive that you already have in your life as well as new things that show up in your life.
Now the law of attraction gives you what you are a match for. remember I said earlier in this post that the law of attraction responds to your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, the things you say and the things you do.
So with that in mind, when things you don’t want show up in your life, that means that you’re a match for those things. So you can be grateful for these signals that you need to shift what you are a match for.

5. Get enough sleep
Okay, this might sound like a weird thing to add to a law of attraction post, but remember that one of the things that the law of attraction responds to is your feeling. When we don’t get plenty of sleep, it’s so much harder to keep on top of our emotions. Little tiny things can quickly feel like huge problems and we can quickly find ourselves on a downward negative spiral. So that’s what I’m finishing up with today ~ Get enough sleep.

Affirmations have been a really powerful force in my life. I was given the goal by a mentor to practice them 50 times a day. Although I never reached that goal, the constant practice helped me to start believing them in a matter of weeks.
