Are you Lucky or Unlucky? What story are you telling yourself?

So how will you answer that question ~ Are you Lucky or UNlucky? What story are you telling yourself and others?  Is it the story you want to be real in your life?  If it’s not then it’s time to get yourself a new story and that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Sometimes it takes someone else to say something to us for us to realize what is going on.

You may remember that I had some serious car problems before Christmas (twice) and now again.  My car basically at the moment is broken. So I had a chat with the mechanic who deals with my car.  I asked that impossible question “If I get this done, is anything else likely to go wrong?”  You see I’ve already put loads of money into this car.  His reply, the shortened version was “Knowing your luck with cars, yes something is likely to go wrong!”

Honestly, it was as if I’d been struck by lightening.  Not because I thought he was being unfair or anything like that.  But because I realized this was my story.  This was not only the story he had picked up.  It was the story I was telling myself and others too.

I don’t want this story anymore.  I want a new story.  So here it is.

My new story

I always choose fantastic and reliable cars.

I have great luck buying and keeping cars.

Cars are easy.

I look after my cars and they look after me.

I can always rely on my car to run smoothly.

I have great mechanics to keep my car in tip top condition who love telling me my car’s in great condition.

I deserve a fantastic car that I love to drive

Are you Lucky or Unlucky?

Some positive affirmations

I’m so thankful for my wonderful car

My car is reliable and fun to drive

I am blessed with a wonderful car

My mind is aligned with owning a wonderful car that I love

My car runs perfectly and I love driving it.

I’m so lucky with cars

I deserve to always have a great car that I love to drive

I’m an incredibly lucky person

Do you need to change any of the stories you’re telling?

Let me know in the comments below and can you come up with even more positive affirmations?

  1. I fractured my spine in a riding accident. Every day I tell myself how lucky I am to still be walking. I’m sometimes in pain, but it would have been far, far worse. It does help change your perspective 🙂

  2. I love affirmations!

I was going through some bad times in my life a couple of years ago and saw a therapist that believed in affirmations.

It really is amazing the transformation that occurs when you change your mindset.

It’s like the glass is half full or half empty. You can choose which way you want to go and positive affirmations fills your glass while taking no effort at all really.

I couple affirmations with meditation and the change in my life has been amazing. When people comment about the changes they see in me you know it’s a big thing.

  3. Wendy, Positive affirmation!. In our training we work really hard on these to help us set our goals. You seem to be going in the right direction. I know that you will get a great car that will take care of you.

  4. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I love to hear these stories. Affirmations have played a huge part in my life for several years now and they have helped in moving my life from one that I really didn’t like, from being someone I didn’t like to a life I love and being a person I love.

  5. Wendy an excellent post a great reminder to be aware of the story we are telling ourselves, powerful and very simple. Thanks for the lovely reminder:) Carrie

  6. Hi Wendy – I find it amazing how long we can walk around telling the same story, not realising we’re doing it and then acting all surprised when the same things keep happening. It’s always good to hear other people share their stories too – helps to help us realise what we’re doing! So thank you!!

  7. Thanks Carrie. I think we all need these reminders. I sometimes think people will get fed up with me saying pretty much the same things over and over with a slightly different story but I constantly get messages saying thanks for the reminders. So as long as that keeps happening I’ll keep repeating myself. xx

  8. Thanks Kat. I spent a long time trying to pretend I had it all sorted and my life was perfect. I thought that was what people wanted from a life coach. Thankfully I gave up on that idea a few years ago now and I know now that by sharing my own stories, I am able to help more people. Living a good life isn’t about it being perfect is it? Thanks for commenting Kat.

  9. Hi Wendy, ditto, thanks for the reminder and I think it works better than saying to yourself someone is worse off than me and having a really hard time; somehow to focus on your own head and get that right, makes more sense. We’re better aligned to help others if we have a happier disposition.

  10. I enjoyed your article. I like the idea that we can control our destiny by how we think. As a many thinketh in his heart, so is he.
