No goals – Let go and do what feels right

If your goal setting isn’t working for you, try this instead.  Let go and simply do whatever feels right for you.

Okay, I know that for some of you this post will seem crazy, but this month I’m not setting any goals, I’m simply doing what feels right for me and my business.

Before  I get into why I’m not setting goals this month, I do want to say that I love goal setting and I definitely need goals in my life.  I wouldn’t still be in business if I hadn’t set myself clear goals and consistently worked towards them.

If goal setting isn't working for you, try this instead, let go and...Do your goals feel like they are limiting you

Right now my goals definitely feel like they are limiting me and causing blacks for me. For those of you who don’t know me well, I’m a law of attraction practitioner.  I help people to use the law of attraction in their life and business.

For those of you who don’t know me well, I’m a law of attraction practitioner.  I help people to use the law of attraction in their life and business.

Normally I would say that goals work really well with the law of attraction however, there are times when I feel really restricted by set goals. So if goal setting isn’t feeling positive for you and you’re not getting the results you want, try this instead, let go and enjoy.

Some law of attraction thoughts

I’m going to keep this really simple.  The law of attraction gives you what you are a match for.

One of the conversations I have regularly goes something like this.

“I’m focusing really hard on what I want, I’m visualizing and doing affirmations but nothing is showing up.”

Honestly, that’s a little bit how I’ve been feeling lately.

This is what I share with the people who say this to me and it’s the advice I’m taking for myself too.

“LET IT GO!”  I’m not talking about giving up on the things you want, I’m talking about releasing the need for it and just allowing it to come into your life.

Focus too much on what you want

If you know anything about the law of attraction, you will almost certainly have heard, focus on what you want. However, sometimes we can focus too much on what we want and it ends up actually blocking the very things we want to manifest.

I’m going to give you an extreme example.

Let’s say that John really wants a romantic relationship with Jane.  Jane isn’t interested at all.  So John focuses on Jane all the time, he follows her around, sends her messages hourly…  Cutting a long story short, John is obsessed with Jane.  Johns excessive unwanted attention scares Jane.

John is blocking the relationship, he’s scaring what he wants away.

Yes, this is a slightly extreme example, but we often do this in daily life when trying to manifest the things we want.

Let go of the need

I know this is difficult, but you do need to let go of a need.  When your feeling is I need to attract this into my life, you are sending out a message, a feeling of “I NEED IT – I DON’T HAVE IT!”

Your vibration is I DON’T HAVE IT!!!!

I want you to relax about the things you want to manifest into your life.

You want to focus on the things you want in a really light and enjoyable way.

Get clear about your big picture ideal life

Okay, here’s what I encourage you to do.  Get clear about your ideal life, the big picture.  how do you want to live your life?

Then enjoy the process of getting there.  Do the things that you enjoy now and create a light and joyful feeling in your life.

If goal setting is working and positive, keep doing it, if it’s not, make changes

If goal setting is working for you, then keep doing it and enjoy it.

If you’re goal setting and feeling negative about it, then to let go, like I’m doing.

Remember that it’s the feeling that matters.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on today’s post.

Let’s talk.  Leave me a comment below.

  1. Wendy, I will be completely lost if I don’t set a goal for the month. The best I could possibly do is not set a goal for a week but that will still be very difficult.

  2. Please don’t ditch your goals if you’re enjoying them and it’s working for you. I love goal setting, it’s just for me personally right at this time I feel they are restricting me. Do what feels right for you xx

  3. I have a tendency to set very tiny, informal, daily or weekly goals. It barely feels like a goal, but more like a doodle on a white board. I always feel great when I get those things done, but it’s not heart breaking if I don’t because they were so small. 🙂

  4. In my goal setting course, I encourage people to set their ideal life/business goals, then each year from these goals, create your yearly goal, from your yearly goals create your monthly goals, etc.

I used to spend weeks being busy but not really feeling like I’d achieved very much. This formula really helped me.

  5. I do some goal setting but in a very relaxed type of way. I let go of the little goals and focus on big life changing ones. With monthly steps in the direction I want.

  7. I have stopped writing goals too. I simply focus on the next logical step that matches my picture goals. I can relate to what you said about wanting it too much and then not moving forward. I know my big picture goals so if something doesn’t align then I won’t pursue it, but if something new enters the picture and fits then I am willing to give it a try.

  8. What great advice – it reminds me of people who focus so hard on getting pregnant, but the moment they let it go, they finally get the good news. It can be applied to so many aspects of life.

  9. Thanks Wendy. This is very refreshing. I set goals I’d like to achieve but rather live my day enjoying what I’m doing and what I love to do.
