Celebrating pushing my page views up and how I did it

I’m celebrating today.  I have to tell you that I’m a little obsessed with page view tracking on my blog and compared to many of my blogging friends my page views are still ridiculously low, but for me, I’m celebrating today because I’ve pushed my page views up past the 4000 page views in 30-days.

Celebrating pushing my blog page views up and what I've been doing to get there.

I was doing well with my page views earlier on in the year and then something happened and I was struggling to get 3000 in 30-days.

Now as I said, this is still low really in the successful blogging world, but the thing is if I was getting upset every month because I wasn’t achieving the 100,000 page views (which I would love), I’d probably just give up and feel like a massive failure.

30-day tracking

I use Google analytics to track all the stats on my blog and I have the Google Analytics Dashboard on my blog dashboard (sorry that was a mouthful).

Anyway, you can check the last 30-days using the dashboard and that’s the way I like to monitor my page views success.

I find that by checking this figure on a day to day basis, I am able to see each day how well I’m doing.  So rather that setting the goal of 4000 for the month and having to wait until the end of the month, I can celebrate and move to the next goal straight away.

Every day I was able to think to myself, “Right let’s push this up a bit more.”  And that’s exactly what I’ve done.  I knew that on a day to day basis I wanted to be pushing up over 135 to get my page views up past 4000.

So I just kept asking myself “What can I do to push my page views up a bit more.” and that’s what I’ll keep doing.

See the progress ongoing

When I look at my 90-days page views, I’m currently on 8635, so you can see the progress I’ve made in those 90 days.  Almost half of the page views have been from the past 30-days.

As long as I can keep seeing progress like this I know I’m doing okay.

Next page views goal

So starting right now I’m pushing up for the 5000 mark.  On a day to day basis I’m looking to push up past 166.

Wish me luck.

A few things I do to help get my page views up

Most of my page views come from Pinterest.  This is definitely time well spent for me.   Joining group boards is also something I’m focusing on, finding great places to share my posts.

I try to join in with posts on the  Blog Passion Project group on Facebook several times a week.

I share my blog posts with my email list on a Friday in with my Friday updates.

Whilst I don’t get anywhere near as much traffic from Facebook, twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and StumbleUpon.  I will continue to look at ways to improve this.

I’ve also been trying to improve my headlines on new posts I create and updating older posts.

Revamping older posts to make them Pinterest friendly.

I’d love to hear what you’re doing to get more traffic to your own blog.

  • What are you doing to push up your page views?
  • If you’re willing to share this information, I’d love to hear what your average 30-day page views are.
  • What’s your next goal?

As always, my very best wishes to you and your ongoing blog success.
