Affirmations are positive statements.  We can easily use positive affirmations to make a shift from negative thought patterns to positive thought patterns.

Here are a few affirmations that I recommend you write down, say to yourself and fill your mind with daily. Use them however feels good to you.  If it feels good to write them down do it, if it feels good to sing them, do that,  if it feels good to say them in your mind do that…

I give myself permission to be happy

I give myself permission to be happy

It’s okay for me to be happy

I choose to keep my thoughts positive

All is well in my world

I choose to be happy

Happiness flows through my thoughts and my life

I choose to hold happiness in my heart and mind…

It's okay fpr me to be happy #affirmation

These are just a few affirmations you can focus on and fill your mind with.  Try to really get the feeling of the words you’re saying.

Here’s an example of how you can use affirmations to shift a negative thought pattern.

“Grr, it’s raining again, I hate it when it’s raining and I’m stuck indoors all day.  It always seems to be raining these days, Nothing to do, stupid rain….”

As soon as you spot the negative thought pattern, start saying your affirmations to get a positive flow going.

Some people feel like affirmation are lies.  My advice is use believable (for you) affirmations, another way to add these positive statements is to use these words instead…

I’m in the process of…

Example: I’m in the process of attracting more happiness into my life.

You’ve already made your decision to be happier, you bought this course and you’re working through the happiness modules so I feel pretty safe in saying YOU ARE IN THE PROCESS OF ATTRACTING MORE HAPPINESS INTO YOUR LIFE.

You can also start asking yourself questions.

What’s good about the rain?  (I can assure you there is a lot that’s good.  We really would feel unhappy if we didn’t have any).

What exciting things can I find to do today?

Remember that if you’re used to negative thought patterns then your subconscious mind will try to pull you back to them.

Thought Patterns

When most people think of attracting using the law of attraction they think… New house, new car, more money… and yes we can absolutely use the law of attraction to help attract these things but I want you to think really basic.

This is how the law of attraction works, whatever we focus on expands.

WHAT WE FOCUS ON EXPANDS!!!

I choose to keep my thoughts positive #affirmation

One negative thought starts a chain reaction, it leads to another and another…and as each new thought flows, you get more and more negative.

Now when you get into this negative cycle of negative thinking, it’s going to take some effort to shift to positive but that shift can start in one single second.

Here’s an example of what happens.  This is the connection between your thought patterns and your subconscious mind.

Negative thought >> Negative thought>> Negative thought>> Negative thought>>

SWAP IT FOR A POSITIVE THOUGHT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> OOh, this is different! I’m not sure this is safe for me, better go back to what I’m used to.

>> Negative thought >>> Swap it >>> Positive thought, positive thought >>> Oh, still not sure it’s safe for me here, thinking this>>> Positive thought>>> Positive thought>>> positive thought>>> Oh, it is safe, I like this feeling I’m getting, yes it’s safe for me to think these thoughts….

What happens once you’ve convinced your subconscious mind everything’s okay and safe for you, the law of attraction starts drawing in more and more positive thoughts for you to fill your mind with.  Then it gets to work to help you experience more things to feel positive about. To feel happy about.Affirmations for happiness

Below I’m going to talk about how we can use thoughts to help make the shift to positive.

Examples:

Here are a few examples of how to use positive thoughts to change a thought cycle.

The other day I had a few things wrong at the house, a leaking pipe under the bath, the outside drain was overflowing, my son was ill and I had a problem with hotel rooms I’d booked that needed sorting.

By mid morning I found myself thinking, there’s so much going wrong, I’m having a nightmare day.  I even told my sister I was having a nightmare day when she called.

Ooops, slipped back to my old default thinking then.

I spotted it (actually when I complained out loud to my sister).  Then I made the switch.

I came off the phone and started mentally listing all the things I love about my house, how my son isn’t actually feeling ill, he has a painful rash and it’s getting better, how my sister is amazing because she’s going to sort the hotel room for me (she’s great at that sort of thing) and every time I found myself slipping back to negative I just bombarded my thoughts with what’s going right and what I want.

I’m in the process of getting my house in tip top condition and I have loads of help doing that.

So as soon as you spot the negative thoughts swap them for something better feeling, a more positive thought. All it takes is a little shift.

All is well in my world

I’m in the process of attracting happy people into my life who love and support me.

Just keep repeating until you’re feeling wonderfully positive.

Another happiness affirmation example:

Someone makes fun of you and you feel hurt.

There’s that wonderful saying “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.”  Well, sometimes other people’s words do hurt.  But now you know about the power of your thoughts you can choose your thoughts instead.

How to shift negative thought patterns

Get going with some affirmations like this>>>

All is well in my world (I like this one a lot)

I’m kind

I’m beautiful

Everybody loves me

I’m a great person to be around

I love and respect myself just the way I am

I’m awesome and everybody knows it (LOVE THIS ONE)

I'm awesome and everybody knows it. Say this affirmation whilst you're out and about and you'll soon start feeling fantastic. #affirmations

Focus on what’s great about you, on the nice people in your life, the nice things other people have said to you….

Another example: You work really hard on something and nobody even notices.

Of course, we all want our efforts to be noticed but we need to start with self-appreciation.  When you practice self-appreciation, guess what (LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE) other people start to appreciate you too.  It’s the vibration you put out into the world.

Here are some affirmations to get you started…

I love and appreciate myself

I always take the time to celebrate my achievements

I did a great job, well done.

Another good way to do this is to talk in second person (as if you are talking to yourself rather than making a statement) ~ You did such a good job, well done.  I’m so impressed with your work.  That’s such a beautiful meal… You gave such an amazing talk…

You really can use affirmations and positive self-talk to help you break any negative thought pattern and shift it to positive.  Have fun with this.

  1. Positive thinking is so good for you! This post does a great job of explaining how to get out of a negative thought pattern. Even the most positive person has negative thoughts – thanks for the great tips and list of affirmations.

  2. Great post Wendy. I wrote about this recently, personally I love a good affirmation. I set ‘Happiness is a choice I make’ from the Miracles Now book as a reminder for my phone 🙂 Love the ‘I’m in the process’ – will try that!
