Twenty-twenty has been an unusual year, no doubt, with people having to work from home and businesses having to change the way they run. People have lost jobs and companies have shut down.
There may have been more losses than profits this year, but the future is not so bleak for certain industries. In fact, Covid-19 might have even boosted some of these industries.
1. Social Media
The popularity of social media is only increasing day by day. Not only is it just a platform to keep in touch and showcase your life to the online world, but it has now transformed into a full-fledged business. Social media planners and strategists, Virtual Assistants and Influencers now make a living out of social media.
And at times like these, when we keep going into lockdowns and have restrictions on meeting people, what better platform than social media to keep in touch and share snippets of our lives? The number of platforms available is a testament to the fact that this industry is here to stay… and grow!
2. Online Courses
Online courses are another extension of the Internet boom. Classrooms can now become virtual, or one can even learn a new skill or complete a degree at their own pace in the comfort of their own home.
And with many educational institutions having had to keep their doors closed during Covid, homeschooling and home education are the new normal.
3. Health and Energy Drinks
Another industry that has seen a considerable spike in the past decade or so is the beverage industry… and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere in a hurry!
With more people becoming health-conscious, there is a huge demand for health and energy drinks. From protein shakes to energy boosters to vitamin-infused drinks, this is a market that will continue to boom.
4. Food and Restaurant Business
While the hospitality industry has taken a huge blow during twenty twenty because of Covid, this is just a temporary glitch. Sadly, some smaller restaurants and businesses won’t survive the economic loss, but in general, this is a commercial enterprise that will always be in demand, and will almost always be profitable.
There can never be too many restaurants or food chains. Or even food stalls at local markets or fixed venues. People will never tire of eating out.
If one doesn’t have the capital to start their own restaurant, another more affordable start-up option is a home catering business. These are also gaining popularity in recent times.
5. Travel and Tourism
This is another industry that has suffered considerable losses due to the global pandemic and travel restrictions during lockdown. But it is an industry that will bounce back once the pandemic is behind us, and how! With people unable to go on holiday or even travel abroad to be with family, flights and holiday destinations will be in huge demand later.
And with travel becoming more affordable with budget airlines and budget hotels, even the middle-class family can now afford regular holidays, making this one of the industries that will continue to flourish in the next decade.
