We’re not surprised if you are. Running a business of any kind isn’t always going to be the easiest. When you had no intention of a business getting any bigger, it definitely isn’t going to be the easiest. Or even if this was your plan all along, you still aren’t going to find any of this the easiest. Because, if truth be told, running your own business is the hardest thing you’ll ever do. It will test your mental resilience like nothing ever has before, and god forbid if anything ever goes wrong!
You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who set up their own business with all intentions of becoming successful, only to get to the top, and realise their business is falling apart. The financial damage it does is something you don’t want to go through. Which is why we want to talk to all of you strugglers today. If you can’t cope with owning a bigger business at the minute, perhaps a few of the tips we’ve got below for you should help you out.
Think Of The Logistics
If you’re struggling to cope with a bigger business, then it will probably be the case that you just need to really have a think about the logistics of your business. No, we don’t mean how you’re delivering things, we’re on about the actual running of your business. How everything works together to make the day run smoothly. The bigger the business, the harder this is to do. But, one tip that we think works lovely, is to do a weekly plan, if not daily.
We know that as a company owner, you’ll take a backseat in a lot of the doings, so it won’t always be that you have a full involvement in everything. But, what you can do is a weekly plan of targets that need to be met, tasks that need to be done, and have that shared out to all of the relevant people. All you need is for those people to then feed back to you, and before you know it you’ll feel more under control. Of course, you can think about the actual logistics as well.
The bigger your business gets, the harder it’s going to be to meet demand and supply in terms of delivery. So, think about cost saving solutions in the long run, such as having a team of drivers. You can get van insurance for multiple drivers that will allow you to save money, and you’ll often find that keeping things like this in house is going to be the best thing for business management. As a final tip, if you really do feel like you can’t cope with the workload, you should definitely hire another manager or two to share the load with you. They could just manage specific parts of the business, whilst you manage the overall weight of it all.
Teamwork Makes The Dream Work
There’s nothing like a bit of good old teamwork. You will often find that if a company is struggling to cope with the size, it will generally be because there is a huge lack of teamwork within the company. It could be the employees you have working together, or it could be between you and the managers you employ. A lot of it boils down to clashes and lack of communication. So, what do we think solves a lot of this? Create a relaxed environment for your employees to work in.
It’s so much better for them to be in a fun workplace, they’ll be so much more enthusiastic, and they won’t feel that stress and pressure that could cause a communication breakdown. As well as having this fun environment in the workplace, you could work on it on the outside as well. Encouraging people to take part in team building days, or taking your team out to lunch, or just generally getting involved with them outside of work is going to help you to form a much better relationship!
Along For The Ride
You just have to get in to the mindset that’s relaxed, and go along for the ride. We understand that if your business is growing at a rate that you didn’t expect, then it can all be a little overwhelming. But, what you can do tackle each problem as they come to you, and find a solution to your growth teething problems. Because at the end of the day, that’s all that it will be, a growth teething problem.
