The first question we need to be asking you is this, do you even have a marketing strategy? So many companies are doing it all wrong purely because they don’t even have a strategy in the first place. The consequences of which can slow a business down so much. If you do have a marketing strategy, then you need to consider whether it’s actually doing any good for you. We’ve listed a few ways in which it might be holding you back, or even damaging your company’s reputation. Have a read on to find out more.
Too Aggressive Or Weak
Both of these are going to cause their own unique problems. Let’s start with being too aggressive. The main worry here is that it can be really damaging for your business. For one, it can be highly spammy for you customers, and can actually put people off using your company, especially if your marketing strategy was something like mass email marketing. It can actually lead to your website and email being penalised or blacklisted. Once this happens it is hard to get off the black list, and it’ll likely be the case that you’d have to start fresh with a new website and domain. Being too weak is nearly as bad as being too aggressive. You simply won’t be yielding any results, and any money you’re spending will definitely be wasted. Try to find the perfect balance between the two, you’ll know when you do because you’ll notice your sales slowly creeping up in the areas that you’re marketing.
Not Varied
Sticking to one technique when it comes to marketing is just boring. Not only that, but you’re not pushing your business to the potential it could reach. One technique we highly recommend you use is SEO. It is one of the most effective for getting your business noticed in Google, and if done right it’ll send your sales through the roof. An SEO agency should be able to help you with this as it is pretty tricky to try and do in house. If you use SEO alongside techniques such as social media and perhaps the odd mass email marketing techniques, you’ll have a solid marketing strategy that we know will work wonders for your company. Just remember not to be too weak or too aggressive in any of these and you’ll do just fine.
Not Outsourced
This is probably the number one thing that so many business owners get wrong. Unless you’ve got a marketing expert in the office, or you are in fact a marketing company, the chances of you getting it wrong by keeping it in house are so high. Outsourcing is the best thing you can do as they’ll have expert knowledge that’ll lead to the perfect marketing strategy. Just make sure the company you use has a trusted reputation. A lot of marketing agencies do more damage than they do good, so always do your research.
So now you should be able to identify and rectify where your marketing strategy might be going wrong.
