Here in the UK, we have now voted to leave the EU. I have to tell you that over the past 2 days I have mostly avoided social media, simply because of the amount of negative comments.
I personally am extremely proud to live in a country where we have the right to vote and make big decisions like this. I feel that the decision has been made and whether it’s the decision we want or not, now is the time to be proud of our country and look towards a positive future.
Many years ago I used to run a pub/restaurant and I had a lovely girl come and work for me from Australia. I remember this girl so clearly. She loved that she was getting to see England and work in a different country, yet above all, she was incredibly proud of her own country. She absolutely loved it, she simply wanted to see more of the world.
I remember so clearly thinking that’s how it should be.
At this time I believe that even more that ever.
For many years I lived in Spain and was often frustrated by some of the ex-pat community who talked their home country down.
All countries have their problems. Today though I really want to encourage you to focus on the positives about your country, be proud of your country and do what you can to make it even better.
For those of you here in England. I ask you to speak in a positive way. Even when you disagree with decisions made, it is possible to be kind, respectful and positive.

Bad mouthing our country and leaders is not going to lead to a great country.
I call on each and every one of you to BE PROUD of your own country wherever you are in the world.
I feel very much that social media is a platform that can spread huge positive messages, it is all too often used to spread hate, unkindness and negative messages.
Please be careful to make sure you are sharing your thoughts in a positive way. If you feel you can’t, don’t share it.
As my late Gran used to say “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything”
A note to UK business owners
Another reason I encourage you to always be very careful what you share on Social Media – Your clients/customers may well not share the same views as you. If you bad mouth certain politicians, decisions made… they may support that person or decision. If you are sharing very negative messages then you risk putting these people off doing business with you.
I feel it’s important for people who wish to, to be able to share their opinions freely. What I ask of you is to do it in a kind and positive manner.
Wishing you every happiness and success as always.
I love this! With all the craziness going on in America right now I sometimes get so fed up with us but this was the perfect reminder!
That is good to hear Susannah. I think we all need a reminder now and then. As with England, I know America has so much to be proud of. xx
